Duelled’s Shootoff Aspiring To Win 2010 Victoria Derby

June 30th, 2010

With preparations underway for the upcoming Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, it looks as though the Graeme Rogerson-trained Shootoff will be tried for the prestigious 2010 Victoria Derby at the Flemington racecourse.

It looks as though the Graeme Rogerson-trained Shootoff will be tried for the prestigious 2010 Victoria Derby.

Due to jump on the 30th of October this year, the two-year-old gelding who will be three by the time the event rolls around, will hope to better his sire Duelled who came second in the race in 2005.

Sired himself by the successful Redoute’s Choice, Duelled just missed out on the top spot at the 2005 Victoria Derby – with Benicio claiming the honours.

Having trained Shootoff and Duelled, Rogerson was pleased with the youngster’s win in the Chifley Handicap last weekend, where he won by an impressive three-quarter length over runner up Reem.

The win for Shootoff provided Duelled with his first race winner, leaving trainer Rogerson and co-owner Pasquale Stramandinoli desperate to aim the up and comer for the illustrious 2010 Victoria Derby.
