Cloud Cast On Samaready’s 2012 Golden Rose Campaign

August 28th, 2012

Samaready is in doubt for her scheduled run at Caulfield Racecourse this Saturday after refusing to eat her feed last night.

The star three-year-old would not eat her evening meal, forcing trainer Mick Price to postpone her crucial track gallop this morning.

Samaready is due to run in the 2012 HDF McNeil Stakes as she makes her way towards a run in the $1 million Golden Rose.

The 2012 Golden Rose is due to run at Rosehill Racecourse on Saturday September 15, 2012.

Price is hopeful Samaready will make a quick recovery from her mysterious illness after appearing her normal self today.

“I brought her to the track this morning and she seemed bright enough,” Price said.

“But I decided not to gallop her just in case.”

The More Than Ready mare had blood work taken yesterday and the results will determine the course of her spring racing carnival campaign.

“We’ll have a look at her blood picture and take it from there,” Price said.

“I can’t see it being a massive problem, but I wanted to give her one run before the Golden Rose and it wouldn’t be practical to do that a week before the race.”

Samaready placed fourth in the Listed Quezette Stakes at Caulfield last start behind Elite Falls.

She burst onto the scene in the autumn, winning the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes, along with three other quality races.

The filly has won four of her six race starts to date and has earned more than $1.23 million in prize money.
